7 Sinful GIFs From Lil Nas X’s ‘Montero (Call Me By Your Name)’ Music Video

Lil Nas X Photo: YouTube We, as a society, watched as Lil Nas X corrupted musical genres as we knew them. Now, let him corrupt your soul. The 21-year-old brought his otherworldly vision to the music video for “Montero (Call Me By Your Name,” his highly anticipated viral single. From the mystical Garden of Montero to a Roman coliseum to the Satan’s own kingdom, Lil Nas X transports us through a fall from grace with trippy visuals, intricate costuming, and an FKA Twigs homage, honoring the artist many feel deserved Lil Nas X’s Best Music Video Grammy . In the track, which pulls its subtitle from the Oscar-winning film starring Timothée Chalamet, Lil Nas X sings about wanting his down-low hookup to act like they’re on a first name basis, hence “Montero,” Lil Nas X’s real name. “You live in the dark, boy, I cannot pretend / I’m not phased, only here to sin / If Eve ain’t in your garden, you know that you can / Call me when you want, call me when you need,” he sings in the chorus. Get all up in Lil Nas X’s fantasy with these GIFs. How gay people are made, according to Fox News. Being fabulous has been a crime for far too long! In an homage to FKA twigs’s “ Cellophane ,” Lil Nas X ascends to heaven, toward an angel, only to grab onto the (rather phallic) pole and send himself back to sin. Okay, which Hustlers queen taught Lil Nas X these positions, because he’s killing it? Lap dancing with the devil is exactly how close we’re trying to be this summer. Here for a good time, not biblical times. And you would do it, too , in order to survive in eternal hell. Did we say survive? We meant thrive. All hail king of sin, Lil Nas X. … [Read more...] about 7 Sinful GIFs From Lil Nas X’s ‘Montero (Call Me By Your Name)’ Music Video

FKA Twigs Thanks Lil Nas X For Addressing Music Video Similarities

Photo: Gareth Cattermole/Getty Images FKA Twigs has thanked Lil Nas X for acknowledging the influence that her 2019 music video for “Cellophane” had on his recent music video for “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)”. After fans and “Cellophane” director Andrew Thomas Huang pointed out the similarities between the two videos, Lil Nas X posted a thank you to FKA Twigs and Huang on Instagram. Alongside a clip from the “Cellophane” video, Lil Nas X wrote, “The ‘cellophane’ visual is a masterpiece. I was not aware that the visual would serve as inspiration for those who worked on the effects of my video. I want to say thank u to twigs for calling me and informing me about the similarities between the two videos, as i was not aware they were so close.” Almost immediately after Lil Nas X’s post on Tuesday evening, FKA Twigs thanked him with her own Instagram post. “Thank you @lilnasx for our gentle honest conversations and for acknowledging the inspiration cellophane gave you and your creative team in creating your iconic video,” she wrote. “I think what you have done is amazing and I fully support your expression and bravery in pushing culture forward for the queer community. Legend status.” She goes on to thank “sex workers and strippers for providing the physical language to make both videos possible,” and concludes by encouraging her followers to donate to the SWARM (Sex Worker Advocacy and Resistance Movement) hardship fund. Demi Lovato Recreates Her Overdose in ‘Dancing With The Devil’ Music Video

Demi Lovato has dropped the music video for her newest single, “Dancing With the Devil,” featuring a harrowing recreation of the events of her 2018 overdose. The title track off of her latest album , “Dancing With the Devil” opens with the lines, “It’s just a little red wine / I’ll be fine.” The music video begins with Lovato recovering in a hospital bed , tubes filtering the blood from her neck, as we flash back to various stages of her worsening addiction. News coverage of her hospitalization plays before the video moves into the song’s second verse and depicts Lovato’s sexual assault by the dealer who supplied her with the drugs that caused the overdose. Lovato’s assistant, Jordan Jackson, is also depicted in the video discovering Lovato and calling for help, almost exactly as described in Lovato’s YouTube documentary. The video closes with a shot of Lovato’s neck tattoo, which reads “survivor,” and provides links to sexual assault and addiction resources. … [Read more...] about Demi Lovato Recreates Her Overdose in ‘Dancing With The Devil’ Music Video

Brockhampton Has Lil Nas X Tripping in the ‘Count on Me’ Music Video

History will say they were friends. Lil Nas X and Dominic Fike play lovers on a road trip, courtesy of Brockhampton for their new music video “Count on Me.” Directed by Kevin Abstract and Dan Streit, Nas X and Fike barely make it to a secluded forest before hallucinations get so weird you’ll question your own sobriety — colors are more colorful, faces look like cartoons, everything and nothing is hilarious. Things get so heated between the musicians that the song stops early. Their animated bodies sink into a creek, entangling until they’re one form made up of different parts. #CoupleGoals. “I guess I’m a video vixen now,” Lil Nas X tweeted the new visual. With those legs , yes you are, king. “Count on Me” is the latest visual from Brockhampton’s album Roadrunner: New Light, New Machine , which just dropped last week. Best believe the album gets just as weird, with collaborations from Danny Brown, A$AP Rocky, A$AP Ferg, Charlie Wilson, and JPEGMAFIA along with newcomers like Baird and rapper SoGone SoFlexy, who is signed to Kevin Abstract and Romil Hemnani’s new label, Video Store. Get freaky with Lil Nas X and Dominic Fike in the video above. … [Read more...] about Brockhampton Has Lil Nas X Tripping in the ‘Count on Me’ Music Video

George Jones, Country-Music Star, Dies at 81

Photo: Rick Diamond/Getty Images Country-music legend George Jones, best known for his 1980 hit “He Stopped Loving Her Today,” died today in Nashville, Tennessee, where he’d been hospitalized for the last week, the AP reports. He was 81. Jones, nicknamed the Possum, had his first No. 1 hit in 1959, and he went on to record more than 150 albums over the course of his career, notching thirteen additional No. 1 songs, including “The Grand Tour” and “She Thinks I Still Care.” He was married to Tammy Wynette from 1969 to 1973, but the two continued to perform together and released an album of duets in 1995. Jones was perhaps equally famous for his silky baritone voice — Frank Sinatra once called him “the second best singer in America” — as for his drug-and-alcohol-induced offstage behavior, including a televised police chase through Nashville in 1980. Jones was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1992, was a Kennedy Center honoree in 2008, and received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement award in 2012.
