September 29, 2016 - 15:00 BST hellomagazine.com Vikram Vij opens up about cooking for Prince William and Kate Middleton in Canada, and shares recipe he cooked for the royals Vikram Vij was given the opportunity of a lifetime when he was asked to cook for Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge , née Kate Middleton, during their visit to the Taste of British Columbia Food Festival this week. Understandably, the India-born Canadian chef put a great deal of thought into serving up the perfect dish for the couple – from his choice of meat to the level of spice. At their April 2011 wedding, William and Kate famously dined on a saddle of organic lamb, and so Vikram chose a popular lamb dish from his Vij Restaurant in Vancouver – Wine-Marinated Lamb Popsicles in Fenugreek Cream Curry, which he renamed 'Maharajah's Lamb Popsicles' for the purpose of their visit. As they approached Vikram's stand, they warmly greeted him with the traditional Indian welcome 'Namaste', before taking the time to discuss the dish with the chef. The Prince – who is not a big fan of spicy food – complemented Vikram on his "perfect" spice level, as the trio talked about the importance of sourcing and using local produce. At the end of their chat, Vikram then presented enthusiastic cook Kate with a copy of his latest book, Vij's Indian , saying that he hoped she would try out some of the recipes when she gets home. The Canadian chef put a great deal of thought into his royal dish The couple's appearance at the food festival comes just a few months after William playfully joked about Kate's cooking while attending at a charity gala. Kate suggested that her husband was looking forward to a break from her cooking as they stepped out together for the event in June, telling the chefs: … [Read more...] about Prince William and Kate Middleton sample delicacies in Canada – see chef Vikram Vij’s recipe

’s Showrunner Breaks Down the Final Season and the Fate of the Rayburn Family
Kyle Chandler as John Rayburn. Photo: Netflix Major Bloodline spoilers below. You’ve been warned! The final season of Bloodline picks up exactly where the second season ended : The Rayburn family secrets are on the verge of exposure. When we last saw the Florida Keys family, older brother John (Kyle Chandler) was escaping and driving north; Kevin (Norbert Leo Butz) was freaking out over killing Detective Marco Diaz (Enrique Murciano); and Meg (Linda Cardellini) was about to spill all the beans to their mother Sally (Sissy Spacek). “It felt like the most exciting start to the season to pick up right where season two left off — right in the chaos,” executive producer Todd A. Kessler said. “I think season three is very much about trying to put the audience in the shoes of the characters. Starting right in the chaos where there’s no letting go; there’s no escape for the characters; and there’s no escape for the audience.” Kessler also spoke to Vulture about how the story ends for each of the Rayburn children and their mother, the return of Danny (Emmy winner Ben Mendelsohn ), and why the writers opted for an open-ended closing to the series . How much of a challenge was it for you to cull your plans and figure out what you would include? Were there a lot of stories that you didn’t tell at all? There’s a lot of stuff we didn’t get a chance to tell, but each season was going to focus on a specific character and also aspects of family dynamics. So we ended up condensing and combining, and really pulling up stories that we had for seasons four, five, and six into season three. There were certain things that we just weren’t able to get to because of time constraints. But on the whole, I think that season three really delves very deeply into John’s character, Kevin’s, Sally’s, and Meg’s, too. What you’re seeing in season three is, in a certain way, a shorthand for what you’d see in seasons four, five, and six. It ended up creating a very dense … [Read more...] about ’s Showrunner Breaks Down the Final Season and the Fate of the Rayburn Family
Season Finale Recap: Now Leaving the Keys
Bloodline Part 23 Season 2 Episode 10 Editor’s Rating 3 stars * * * Previous Next » Owen Teague as Nolan, Ben Mendelsohn as Danny. Photo: Saeed Adyani/Netflix Well, that’s that. The second season of Bloodline is officially a disappointment. Despite strong performances throughout, this year’s story never felt as confident as the first — and it ended not far off from where it began. After ten-plus hours, the season ends at its starting point. The only essential change? It’s juggling four cliffhangers now. The season’s action could have been distilled to an hour. Imagine, if you will, the second year of Bloodline opening with a guilty John (Kyle Chandler) leaving his family behind, a panicked Kevin (Norbert Leo Butz) attacking Marco (Enrique Murciano), and Meg (Linda Cardellini) confessing her family’s sins to her mother (Sissy Spacek). A lot has happened in every episode, but it doesn’t really take us anywhere. These characters and their world weren’t developed enough to justify the time commitment. Perhaps the inevitable third season will correct that problem, moving the Rayburns forward instead of just watching them tread water in the Florida Keys. As “Part 23” opens, John and his wife, Diana (Jacinda Barrett), are on the beach. Realizing that Eric O’Bannon (Jamie McShane) was there the day John killed his brother Danny (Ben Mendelsohn), John knows the proverbial waters are rising against him. He implies as much to Diana, saying in his all-too-cryptic way, “Things are not good.” She tells him not to come home tonight. After a quick trip to the beach and a conversation with Eric, Marco stops by the citrus farm with the cameras. He’ll get a warrant soon. Cut to John and Meg looking at a still of Eric from those cameras. They don’t know what Eric knows. Did he see the crime? The cover-up? They know that the Internal Affairs investigation will keep Marco and Aguirre (David Zayas) tied up, but for how long? Meg … [Read more...] about Season Finale Recap: Now Leaving the Keys
Season-Premiere Recap: The Road to Nowhere
Bloodline Part 24 Season 3 Episode 1 Editor’s Rating 3 stars * * * « Previous Next » Photo: Netflix The Rayburns are back for a final season of murder, betrayal, and the family ties that bind and kill. Season two of Bloodline felt somewhat transitional, like its creators were uncertain where to take the show after its hit debut year, but this last ten-episode arc is a promising opportunity. Perhaps it will give Bloodline the focus it lacked last year, and we can send out the Rayburns in style. Most interesting, this show has some seriously murky moral water to tread. At the end of last season , Kevin Rayburn (Norbert Leo Butz) killed Marco Diaz (Enrique Murciano). Should we now root for him to get away with it? It will be interesting to see how the show navigates the truth that Kevin is a murderer and shouldn’t be a free man. The writers of Bloodline are smart to not get into that gray morality right away, sticking with a tight time frame and taut pacing for the season’s first hour, which picks up immediately after the finale of season two. Kevin has murdered Marco; John Rayburn (Kyle Chandler) is leaving town; Meg (Linda Cardellini) has unveiled the family secrets to her mother Sally (Sissy Spacek). Danny (Emmy winner Ben Mendelsohn) is absent for now, but it’s interesting to hear his voice say, “Hey, where are we going?” in John’s mind. He might as well be talking about the show, too. It turns out John is going nowhere fast, running into a gator in the road and destroying his vehicle. After putting the animal out of its misery and declining a ride home from a fellow officer, he heads out again on his destinationless journey. Meanwhile, his siblings are in full panic mode. Kevin, the true moron that he is, comes back to try and wake up the man he just brained with a ceramic dolphin, hiding when Meg pulls up, and hitting his head in the process. It will be a TV miracle if Kevin survives this season. … [Read more...] about Season-Premiere Recap: The Road to Nowhere

Jodie Foster Thanked Her Wife, Her Dog, and Aaron Rodgers in Her Golden Globes Acceptance Speech
Jodie Foster and her wife Alexandra Hedison Zooming in to the 78th Annual Golden Globes in luxury pajamas is the sort of stylish and funny lesbian power move you simply love to see. Foster then winning Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for a movie that allegedly exists called The Mauritanian and thanking Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers in her acceptance speech was just the perfect finishing touch on this awards show high point . Foster issued her thank-yous in the following order: “I love my wife, thank you, Alex, and Ziggy, and Aaron Rodgers! And, you know, the Hollywood Foreign Press, right? This is awesome!” [Ziggy is their perfect little lamb of a dog, by the way.] Foster thanked Rodgers to fulfill a promise, it turns out. In February, Rodgers was named the 2020 NFL MVP (for the third time), and in his acceptance speech, he thanked Jodie Foster . Later that month on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Kimmel asked Foster if she knew Rodgers, and she said, “No,” but clarified, “he just knows I’m his biggest fan.” Foster has been a dedicated cheesehead for years . Kimmel then asked, “If you win the Golden Globe, will you name him in your speech?” Foster answered, “Absolutely.” Foster might be more than just Rodgers’s biggest fan, though. His fiancée Shailene Woodley was Foster’s co-star in The Mauritanian. When Kimmel asked if this connection was “a total coincidence,” Foster said, “I don’t know if that’s a coincidence, but yes, and she’s fantastic. We spent a lot of time on The Mauritanian together in a little tent with little air-conditioning spitting at us, talking about our lives and recipes and people we hate. Things like that.” Not a coincidence, you say? This begs the question: Did Jodie Foster set Shailene Woodley and Aaron Rodgers up ? Update, 12:20 p.m.: To answer that question, no — no, Foster did not set up Woodley and Rodgers. In last night’s virtual press room after the Golden Globes, Foster addressed … [Read more...] about Jodie Foster Thanked Her Wife, Her Dog, and Aaron Rodgers in Her Golden Globes Acceptance Speech
