The 48-year-old also said: "The station was owned by Capital and they asked if I would like to work in London. I jumped at the chance since I grew up listening to Capital. Walking into their Euston Tower studios for the first time seemed like walking into a radio Mecca." … [Read more...] about Escape to the Country’s Margherita Taylor had a very surprising start to her career

Lana Del Rey Is Only Speaking for Herself Now
On “Chemtrails Over the Country Club,” the song, Del Rey doesn’t have much profound to say. It’s one of her classic dreamy love songs, set amid the high-class decadence she frequents with an added layer of suburban duty. The titular chemtrails only color the scene — really, there’s nothing to escape, not the elementary school obligations or the fine jewelry. “We laugh about nothing as the summer gets cool,” Del Rey sings, encapsulating the space the song itself occupies. She sways and lilts through the delicate rhythm, eventually finding her way toward a glitchy bridge that takes over the entire song. Producer Jack Antonoff, who helms the new album as he did her last, seems to have taken a few notes from his folklore and evermore collaborator Aaron Dessner; the track sounds as crisp as one of the musical “sketches” Dessner contributed to Taylor Swift’s projects. That makes “Chemtrails” more interesting than … [Read more...] about Lana Del Rey Is Only Speaking for Herself Now
‘Saturday Night Live’s ‘Studio 60’ Moment
Saturday Night Live has become nearly as central to our cultural discourse as Studio 60 angrily demanded a mediocre sketch comedy show should be partially out of a lack of options. I think Jordan Peele made a horror movie or something? … [Read more...] about ‘Saturday Night Live’s ‘Studio 60’ Moment
Riz Ahmed Doesn’t Want to Be ‘Post-Racial’
It was pretty interesting because on the one hand, of course, Carlton Drake is a fantastical character from the graphic novels. But what we did was, we updated it for contemporary context, which is the environmental Armageddon. We preserved the spirit of the comic-book character, but we actually make it very contemporary and grounded in that he’s a billionaire industrialist who is feeling the worst about the Earth’s ecological future, so he’s exploring space in order to find another home for humanity. That’s actually something that’s very grounded and very current. Obviously you’ve got people like Elon Musk and Richard Branson and Jeff Bezos all exploring space as a new frontier as we exhaust the limits of what we can do here on Earth. … [Read more...] about Riz Ahmed Doesn’t Want to Be ‘Post-Racial’
A Complete Timeline of the Decades-long
Hidden in the fine print of the most recent government stimulus package was funding for a project called “And Just Like That …” On January 10, the world found out that this is a reboot of Sex and the City that one day will premiere on HBO Max. The ladies of SATC have been keeping busy in the time since the demise of the third Sex and the City film: Cynthia Nixon ran for governor of New York, Kristin Davis went to the Red Table, and Sarah Jessica Parker has been seen answering phones at her shoe stores. But the one thing missing from the reboot announcement, however, is Kim Cattrall. If you’ve been paying attention to any show-related news, this isn’t going to surprise you. If you haven’t been paying attention, we have created a primer to catch you up, and, more important, to explain why we think this happened. … [Read more...] about A Complete Timeline of the Decades-long
