Good book.
great read
If you are a true Buckeye fan, this book is for you. It gives you all the details on how to: Get tattoos without paying for them. Get big discounts on new and used cars by giving away your player game day tickets. Sell off all your tOSU merchandise, to fat cat fans for big profits. The chapter by The Sweater Vest on \\”It’s Only Cheating and Lying, If You Get Caught\\” is worth the price of the book itself. In 5 or 10 years, this will be a must read classic. You will be able to look back with nostalgia and say, \\”Remember how good our football team used to be with ineligible players, before the NCAA came down on us for all those violations?\\” The Mayans were right, Armageddon is coming in 2012…..for tOSU!!!!
I am extremely happy with this book. My boyfriend is a huge Ohio State fan and this gift was perfect! Love all the stories. More than what I expected – it was hardback, and there were some nice pictures included, the price was perfect and extremely fast shipping (I got it a day and a half after I ordered it!) I didn’t know Jim Tressel was such a good writer. And on top of that, I scored some extra points with my boyfriend who started reading the day he got it and shares some of the stories with me. 🙂 This is a def. must have for any Buckeye fan.
Being a lifelong Ohio State fan (going back into the early 50’s) I was fascinated by this book. To hear from actual players that I followed throughout the years was just great. The information provided on Woody Hayes was particularly neat to read. Jim Tressel is the kind of person that more universities need running their programs. A great read that I couldn’t put down.
I gave this book to my fiance for his birthday and it is a very cool book. It is a must for any Buckeye library!
This book is a great read for people interested in hearing about Ohio State football history and tradition directly from the minds of the players themselves. It is broken into decades, where each decade has short narratives, quotes, interesting stories, etc… from the players who played in that decade. There are anywhere from 5-20 players chosen from each decade, and even a couple from the \\”modern era\\” of Buckeye football.
It is great to hear how the players chose to play football at Ohio State, and how the game has changed throughout the years – not to mention the great stories about Woody Hayes. It is very interesting to see how each former player felt about the great coach, and how much respect he commanded.
Buy this book if you are into Ohio State football history, Big Ten football history, NCAA football history, or if you’re even just a little curious. It is a very easy read, and full of great stories and pictures of the players. A book that any Ohio State fan would be proud to add to their bookshelf.
I purchased this book as part of my boyfriend’s Christmas. Prior to wrapping it, I decided to sift through the book to learn tidbits about Ohio State… I actually enjoyed it and my blood smells of SEC! lol My boyfriend, now my ex, loved the book and he’s not much of a reader, so that’s saying a lot… especially since it wasn’t a picture book. :o)
If you are a tried and true Buckeye Football fan you need to read this book. An unbelievable set of stories from the famous and not so famous stars of the past. If you wish to read about what it was like to play under the coaching staff over the years this book is a must read. Most interesting is how Woody Hayes is portrayed by his players. One mistake does not a life make, and Woody Hayes is given his due here. As a big fan of Jim Tressel, and his outlook on coaching, I would have wished more content on how Coach Tressel handles (more like juggles) the coaching of a top notch program within the NCAA. I guess you cannot expect everything, but to a man I was happy to read each story.
This a must for every Buckeye fan. Ohio State is the greatest tradition in college football…period! This is not just from the fan’s point of view…the former players tell it best!
This is a great idea for a book, get some of the greatest players ever that played Football at Ohio State and let them tell stories about what it’s like to be a Buckeye football player. There are great stories about how they were recuited, the big games ,their team mates, and most of all coach Woody Hayes and what an impact he left on all their lives. I can’t wait for a 2nd addition there are still many big name players and coaches who could contribute. Thanks Jeff Snook for a great book!
