I recommend this book for any parent who is involved in home school activity. I have three grandchildren who are home schooled. I have found the book to be very informative for realizing how the special interest and passions of each child can be recorded as school credit on a transcript. The Author explains what colleges look for in an applicant, besides their just having completed certain courses. This book is a great investment for any parent who intends to have their child go to college. .

Are you homeschooling an older child and want to get the best tips and tricks for navigating high school and beyond?

Let Lee Binz, The HomeScholar, be your mentor!

Lee has graduated two of her own children and has encouraged and strengthened many more.

“If college is in your child’s future, prepare them to face it as a mature adult, grounded in their faith.”

In her book, The HomeScholar Guide to College Admission and Scholarships , she shares insights and strategies on how to go about navigating the hurdles of college admissions and scholarships from a Christian perspective.

    Topics include:

    *Preparation of high school curriculum

    *Affording college

    *Test preparation

*Specific “to-dos” for the junior and senior years

*Senior year last minute 12 step emergency no panic plan

    *Writing a great application essay

*Your value as your child’s guidance counselor

*And my favorite, turning annoyances into specializations.

“The point of these stories is that your love for your child will go a long way towards ensuring their success in the college process.”

With the help and wisdom offered in this book, planning for high school and beyond won’t leave you shaking in your shoes. Lee has encouraged our family as we continue on the course for our soon to be Junior AND soon to be Freshman homeschooled highschoolers!

Insightful, helpful and thorough, this guide gives me confidence in educating my children through high school and launching them into college. I truly appreciate the guidance. It is easy to get lost in the process of home schooling and to forget the goals. This straight forward book helps you to focus on the goals and incorporate it into the process. Lee Binz is a great encouragement and practical helper for any home schooling family.

This is an excellent book for any homeschooler with a student getting ready to start high school. Lee (the Homescholar) provides you with the information needed to not get behind in the college admissions game.

Check out page 255 of the book for my quote.

Thanks Lee for a great book and a needed service to those of us without a guidance counselor.

Although we’ve been through the college application process with our older two sons, the information in Lee’s book will be most helpful for our younger two who will soon be applying to colleges. Lee explains things so everything is easy to understand and absolutely do-able. Her real-life examples and humor make the book an enjoyable read. Her advice is backed by having gone through the process with her own two sons and also helping many others through the process. I highly recommend this book!

Currently, my daughter and I are starting the BIG college search. Yet where do we start? How do you pick a college for my child? How do you apply for Financial Aid? Where do we go for scholarships? As a home school student are we able to apply to Ivy League schools? Applying to college today is much more complicated then back \\”in the day\\”.

All our questions have been answered with Lee’s book. The book is easy and quick to read, as well as insightful. My daughter and I have started a notebook using the forms in the resource section of the book.

This is a most buy book!
    Thank you Lee!
