Reading this book it makes you reflect on your own situation. Navigating change is not easy for anyone, as you follow the exercises throughout this book you will become aware of the how to improve your situation and move out the cloud of ambiguity. I found myself going back and re-reading the entire book. Do yourself a favor and read this incredible piece of literary work.

Lisa Mininni’s approach to the increasingly important subject of change is practical, application rich, and has a wonderfully broad reach. There is a need for this type of comfortably written, easy to understand presentation. It is obvious that there are several well established underlying models that support her work; however, her style addresses a large audience that would surely drown in some of the high water presentations that populate our bookshelves. I heartily recommend it as a coaching tool.

As a career consultant in Michigan, the state with the nation’s highest unemployment rate, I am well aware of the fear, anger, and confusion that accompany change. As more and more people grapple with change, voluntarily or involuntarily, they will need books like Lisa Minnini’s \\”Me, Myself, and Why.\\” Most of us like to have control over our livelihoods, but what happens when that livelihood goes away? We are automatically thrust into what Minnini aptly calls \\”a cloud of ambiguity.\\” This helpful book provides specific techniques, such as vision statements, for identifying the ideas, emotions, resources, and insights that prepare people to take stock, fashion a plan, and move forward. And while she is well aware that people don’t like change, she teaches that there is power and growth available to those who are willing to be \\”comfortably uncomfortable.\\”

I loved the concept and the flow of the book. I gained great insights from Lisa’s characters. They taught me about my own motivation for my actions as well as others. The questions Lisa presents helped me to clarify my direction into positive change. This is an enjoyable read for those who want a tool and the support to move their lives in a forward direction quickly.

I recommend this book for anyone initiating a personal search for change. The material is easy to understand; Mininni presents eight characters with whom we can identify, and thereby introduces a broad spectrum of motivational drivers. This is an excellent, entertaining approach, upon which one can build through a more in-depth investigation of personal motivators and their influence on behavior. Mininni discusses the \\”Cloud of Ambiguity\\” as a key indicator of the need for change, and recommends techniques for escaping the Cloud, discovering who you are and aligning what motivates you with what you do. The book combines a process of self-discovery with the means to plan and execute a way ahead.

As a coach, consultant and worksite wellness specialist, I live in the world of change. Therefore, the word change in the sub-title of this book caught my attention. As a student of change, I bought and read the book. As a professional, I generally look for substantiation for what I read. This book provides none. You have to take what you read at face value. The book contains no sources or references to support the content. I would clearly put this book in the self-help category. In addition to the lack of references, I feel the book also lacks continuity or flow. To me, the book seemed to be a collection of disparate thoughts that lacked a specific focus or overall unifying theme. Open ended questions are the backbone of any consulting or coaching relationship. The value of this book lies in the many questions contained therein. The reader will find self coaching questions imbedded within each chapter’s content, as well as in the \\”Self Reflection Moment\\” section found at the conclusion of each chapter. This book added little to my current understanding of behavior change. If you are just starting out on your personal journey of change, answering the questions you will find in this book will be a good starting point for you. They will help you to identify the nature of your \\”me\\” and \\”myself.\\” Unfortunately, what is lacking in the book is a scientific rational to support your conclusions for the \\”why.\\”

If you have lost your job and are reflecting upon what just happened…. or perhaps you have more questions than answers. This is a useful book for these times. It will help you understand \\”why\\” and also provide important insight/aids to pursue your next job or a change in career. A key to having a successful life is being able to navigate through events that are not always in one’s control and to find one’s niche. This book provides a great perspective on how to move forward, particularly if change has chosen you.

In \\”Me, Myself & Why?\\” Lisa Mininni does a wonderful job of challenging you to take action when it comes to change in your life. Each chapter is easy to read with a great flow, and then wraps up the chapter with challenge questions. I love the questions because it has you really think about what you just read and actually apply what you are learning along the way. In today’s very unstable times, this book is a must-read to help you meet the challenges of change with strength and confidence! Lynn Jarrett Bestselling author of \\”Why Bother Looking?\\”

Coaching books usually fall into two categories. I call these categories \\”Lists of Tips\\” and \\”Lots of Revelations.\\” About half-way into Me, Myself and Why? The Secrets to Navigating Change, I realized coach Lisa Mininni has written a book that combines the best of both those worlds. In addition to sharing insights from her own experience and observations, she provides the tools needed to overcome the behaviors and attitudes that keep us stuck in places we really don’t want to be. Mininni’s common-sense approach involves first getting to the heart of what drives us, then learning how to use those motivators to keep us from getting stalled when we need to move forward. Her \\”Self-Reflection\\” moments, sprinkled throughout the book, provide unique, thought-provoking questions to help the reader apply each chapter’s lessons in a meaningful way. In the most intriguing portion of the book, Mininni creates a series of characters to illustrate traits, beliefs and behaviors, rather than just describing them. You’ll find yourself and people you know in \\”Audacious Adam,\\” \\”Juggler Jane,\\” \\”Analytical Ann,\\” and others whose fictional lives prove quite revealing. After each profile, Mininni lists a series of questions to help readers make the leap between the character and self-identification, then offers specific strategies for change. Mininni draws on some of her own personal journey, as well the experiences of others to illustrate the book’s concepts and keep this an interesting read. But take it slowly, because it’s important to do the work of answering the questions and reflecting on how these concepts apply to your own life. And that’s where you’ll find all those Revelations.
