BORIS Johnson will warn Donald Trump today that Britain will not be rushed into signing a post-Brexit trade deal. The PM is understood to be wary of a range of “thorny issues” to overcome before Britain can strike a comprehensive free trade deal with the US after Brexit. He will meet the US President for the first time as PM for a one-hour breakfast tomorrow at the G7 summit of world leaders in Biarritz. A UK-US trade deal is at the top of their agenda and Mr Johnson is said to be “willing to move forward quickly but he is determined that it is “more important to get the right deal than to get a quick deal”. The PM has made it clear Britain will not be pushed around by US negotiators. He is said to want the US to open up its agricultural and services markets for UK products and access to public procurement contracts.And has made it clear that he will steadfastly reject US demands to include NHS contracts in the trade deal or any calls to lower animal welfare standards such as US chlorinated chicken or animal hygene.
