When the Sydney-based actor Andy Whitfield scored the lead role in the Starz series Spartacus: Blood and Sand, he had no idea that it would rocket him to fame in such a short period of time. Tragically, soon after the first season aired, the staggeringly handsome actor would be diagnosed with an aggressive cancer and die at the young age of 39, leaving behind two young children and a grieving widow.
